Principal focus of the project

The focus of this project was exploring the theory that learners read better when listening at the same time.

What is this about and what were the main findings?

A Drama teacher and a Music teacher along with some student volunteers were recruited to record fiction extracts from previous GCSE papers - and some non-ficiton articles. The audios were then used during English lessons. The project reported that this approach had enhanced English teaching methodology, and had had a proven impact on student reading ages.

Summary

This project was a collaboration between English teachers, academic coaches and vocational staff to boost the reading confidence of GCSE English Language students using audio extracts.
