Summary
In November 2017, we commissioned the Learning and Work Institute (L&W) to conduct research to identify employer engagement activities which are effective for learners aged 16 to 17, with low prior attainment (no qualifications at Level 2) studying at Entry Level and Level 1 in Further Education (FE) providers. The work aimed to support the successful implementation of the transition year referenced in the Government’s Post-16 Skills Plan, which will involve an element of employer engagement activity. This report presents the findings of the research, along with policy and practice recommendations for the wider sector, the ETF and the Department for Education.
