Summary This guide introduces a range of techniques and methods for teaching communication skills. It is not comprehensive, but does give some practical starting points. The topics covered are as follows: Taking part in discussions, Talks and presentations, Reading and understanding, Spelling, Punctuation, Sentence structure, Writing documents. The original guide was developed to support those delivering the Communication Key Skill qualifications. These qualifications have now been replaced by the Functional English qualification but the techniques are still valid for supporting learners to develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Updated by the Education and Training Foundation in 2016.
