City and Islington College - Action Research Project Poster 2012

Principal focus of the project

To develop and evaluate a range of classroom approaches and methods of delivery that help students improve their writing in the context of functional skills and adult literacy.

What is this about and what were the main findings?

Students enjoyed working collaboratively, engaged with the research and willingly tried new approaches.  They gained confidence as writers. The research showed an explicit link between intervention and improved assessment and students felt a sense of ownership of their writing. Data was gathered from participants/observers, and surveys/questionnaires.
