How far can Joint Practice Development (JPD) be harnessed as an organisational CPD tool?

Principal focus of the project

The focus was to consider the impact of organisational JPD on teachers' sense of agency.

Areas of learning
What is this about and what were the main findings?

The research was linked with increased collaboration between teachers and it also enhanced the effectiveness of the collaboration. It did not have a signifcant impact on collabroation with line managers or perceptions of them. The JPD facilitator role encompassed providing resources, providing guidance, modelling effective practices, brokering access to opportunties and cheerleading. Key issues to address included personalising support, establishing an equal partnership, managing time, ensuring teachers have a say in the focus and process and creating a feeling of space for development.
