Strode College: Behaviour Case Study

Principal focus of the project

The focus was to look at how the college engaged with all learners by ‘challenging low expectations’ through challenging behaviour. To achieve this, the researchers worked with the student to plot his journey from a level 1 programme through to employment, asking him to review his memories of his time at the college and identify what made a difference and why.

Areas of learning
What is this about and what were the main findings?

The researchers identified a number of aspects of provision which had been helpful. For example, the creation of a Breakfast Club had been a great success for all learners, improving attendance at college, providing independent living skills among students as well as social skill, and created a community of support and friendship. Data was gathered from interviews/surveys.
