Underachieving Young Men
(Word document, 110kb)

Date published: 01/08/2007

The rationale for the project stems from the concern over the “unacceptable” gender gap of 9% at the top GCSE grades A* - C. Our aim was to gain an overall picture of the attitudes and motivation to learn of both boys and girls on entry to the college at 16. Using this information we wished to identify and produce learning strategies and materials that would prove effective in engaging and motivating young male learners so that we could begin to close the gap in achievement.
