Excellence Gateway
The LSIS Flexibility and Innovation Fund is a new funding opportunity for the learning and skills sector. Its purpose is to promote and support innovative projects that have the potential to yield significant improvements in sector practice and performance. The fund, established in Autumn 2009, affirms the commitment of LSIS to provide direct funding into the learning and skills sector and to make effective use of sector-based expertise. In the first two rounds of funding, 88 projects have been awarded funding; an investment of over £7 million directly into the sector.

Guidance on the characteristics of successful and unsuccessful bids in the first two rounds of funding are presented in a statement on the qualities of successful bids.
The third round of the LSIS Flexibility and Innovation Fund (FIF) closed at midday on Friday 2 July and bids are now in the process of being judged.
Applications for funding for the fourth round of this fund will open on Wednesday 1 September 2010 and close at midday on Friday 29 October 2010. Further information about FIF4, including bidding guidance and an application form, will appear on Wednesday 1 September 2010 on the Funding Opportunities page of the main LSIS website and on this page.
