About the TCG
The Tertiary Colleges Group was set up in 2007 and represents the interests of tertiary colleges across England. There are 21 colleges in membership, of which 11 were rated 'outstanding' in their most recent OFSTED inspection. But, any college broadly fitting the description 'tertiary' may join.
The capacity to respond to the full range of a community's education and training needs is important, together with a specialist role as the main provider of sixth form education for some local schools. Recent research shows that tertiary colleges, not only produce excellent outcomes for students of all ages but offer very good value for money, contribute greatly to social mobility and give equal value to vocational and general (academic) pathways. 16-19 education is a particular expertise all tertiaries share. The TCG operates under the umbrella of the Association of Colleges.
Support and Services
The TCG provides its members with access to key decision-makers and lobbyists via its own conferences and regular representation at Funding Agency, ministerial and Improvement Service forums. It keeps members up-to-date with policy developments and ensures their voice is heard when the college sector is enjoined to respond to major consultation exercises. Case studies are being prepared for a wide audience. Assistance with succession planning and post-appointment mentoring is now available. The TCG is pleased to be an official partner of LSIS.
