Beacon status

Beacon status provides public recognition of the excellence and innovation that exists within the further education system. It celebrates outstanding delivery in the further education sector from a range of learning and skills providers across England.

A prestigious ceremony on 27 June 2011 saw a further seventeen dynamic and far-sighted organisations – spanning a real diversity of provision – become Beacons. They join a prestigious group which have previously gained Beacon status and which are now collaborating with other organisations in the sector to strengthen the drive for excellence.
