Foundation Learning is the name given to education provision at Entry Level and Level 1, and includes the qualifications at these levels within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). Learners will be offered personalised learning opportunities that help them gain credit at Entry Level and Level 1, on a learning journey leading to a range of appropriate destinations such as Level 2 qualifications, supported employment or independent living.
Schools can now request health check visits from experienced facilitators, to help with the introduction of Foundation Learning. In addition, two tailored modules will soon be available to support managers and practitioners.
Tailored support is also available for all local authorities (LAs), whether or not they are currently taking part in the extended Foundation Learning pilot. An online readiness tool is available and may help LAs to assess their support needs.
A range of activities has been developed to support colleges and learning providers to plan and deliver successful personalised learning programmes, using qualifications from the QCF.
Support is available for both managers and practitioners, including local events to support post-16 providers. To find out more, get in touch with your regional contact.
The Foundation Learning Support resource library has recently been reorganised to create a more accessible resource for managers and practitioners. The extensive information and guidance is being constantly added to and updated. It provides a comprehensive range of materials including planning tools, LSIS guidance on delivery, and key policy documents.
