This area of LSIS support develops your capacity as a curriculum leader or manager to focus strategically on what you want your curriculum to look like in the future. It helps you to identify what will have to change and to decide how you are going to achieve this operationally in the current context of less centralised government control, reductions in budgets and changes in funding.
Curriculum design is about the provision of personalised, destination-led programmes of learning responsive to the needs of employers, the local community, and both current and prospective learners. It is as important to consider the wraparound support elements of curriculum provision (e.g. learner voice, careers and education advice and guidance) as it is to design and implement the programmes of learning themselves.
LSIS has developed guidance, online modules, action research and case studies for colleges and providers looking to develop a more responsive and flexible curriculum to meet the needs of learners, employers and the wider community.
