Excellence Gateway
Recent reforms and regulations of the workforce have resulted in an increased focus on professional development for educators in the further education (FE) and skills sector, with the Government committed to a qualified and professional workforce across the FE sector in England by 2010. Reforms include mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) for all educators, but how do you get started?
Imagine that, as an educator, you have at least 30 hours to undertake to complete your CPD journey. Where would your first steps take you and why?
As a manager you may be responsible for CPD across a team or the whole organisation. All your staff will undertake a CPD journey of at least 30 hours (pro rata). How can you ensure they have the best possible experience of CPD and also address your organisational priorities?
In this section, we will explain the background to the CPD regulations, demonstrate the use of the Excellence Gateway for CPD, for individual educators and for managers. Topics are set out below, with links to useful resources.
