Excellence Gateway
The Excellence Gateway is working with NIACE to pull together the wealth of resources available on the Gateway under a series of themes.
A new content theme will feature every month, starting from June 2008.
This theme highlights useful resources which support the effective management of information by work-based learning (WBL) providers. Four topics related to MI are covered here: ‘Information Authority and MIAP', ‘Management information for customers', ‘Management information software' and ‘Management information and assurance'.

This theme highlights a wealth of useful resources to help OLAS providers get to grips with Skills for Life provision.

This theme highlights exciting and innovative resources and ideas for adult learning science practitioners and teachers of science-related courses. There are an array of resources on the Gateway to assist with your planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation, and to help you support others so you can impart knowledge more effectively to your learners.

This theme helps providers to identify possible projects, benefit from relevant and useful resources on the Excellence Gateway, learn about the bidding processes, have support for project management processes and share information about the successes and issues arising from the projects.

Much has been written about ICT and e-learning in recent years, and it is safe to say that the sheer volume of net-based research papers, articles, good-practice and general technology-related information is more than a little overwhelming. Websites such as the Excellence Gateway aim to draw together relevant practitioner-facing resources and information, but who has time to look? With this in mind, this article will attempt to draw together some areas of interest and resources to get you started.

Train to Gain was launched in August 2006 as the Government's flagship service to help employers of all sizes and in all sectors get the training advice and support they need to succeed. Over 88,000 employers have benefitted from the service, with over 450,000 learner starts and 186,720 employees achieving a Level 2 qualification. In this article, we will look at the issues that face training providers in delivering the Train to Gain programme.
