Pre-employment provision - Gloucestershire College: Getting Britain Working

Summary This set of resources relates to one of nine projects focusing on developing Apprenticeships, employer responsiveness and pre-employment provision. The projects designed, piloted and delivered activity in one or more of the above strands, including workshops, study or exchange visits, coaching and mentoring, consultancy and the development of self assessment tools. Gloucestershire College’s project aimed to support providers to manage and track their pre-employment provision. The project was keen to address key themes identified in the Ofsted Skills for Employment report and as result piloted and developed a self-assessment tool enabling providers to benchmark current maturity levels in pre-employment provision. The college organised an effective practice seminar and provider presentations and video footage can be accessed on a variety of topics including how to establish successful working relationships with Jobcentre Plus, using labour market intelligence effectively and using accredited units to support the unemployed. Consultancy days were also set up between providers to facilitate the sharing of effective practice and three peer groups identified and established.
